Beginning on February 1, 2024, you have the option to add a chosen or preferred name to your account. This name is in addition to the legal name shown on your photo ID. We have added a new name field in our system that has enabled us to offer this account customization.
You will only see one name in your account. That name will appear in My Settings here in the catalog, in the mobile app, and on all account notices from the library (hold notices, overdue messages, courtesy notices, etc.). This does not change your username in the catalog.
To add a chosen or preferred name to your account:
- Ask staff at any Saint Paul Public Library to add your chosen or preferred name.
- Contact us by phone or online, opens a new window. You will need your library card number. Library staff will verify that we are updating the correct account and add the name you provide.
Whenever we update your account, we will ask you to verify certain information in your account. This is to ensure we are updating the correct account and to protect your privacy.
