To get a library card or to register a library card from another Minnesota public library system, you must have a photo ID, proof of date of birth, and proof of your current address. Visit any Saint Paul Public Library location to complete registration.

Go to https://sppl.bibliocommons.com/user/forgot, opens a new window and enter your library card number. A reset link will be emailed to you.

If you get an error message on that page, please visit https://alpha.stpaul.lib.mn.us/pinreset, opens a new window to set a new password. If the library has your email address on file a reset link will be sent to you.

Once you have set a new password, return to https://sppl.org, opens a new window to log in to the website.

Up to 100 items may be checked out per library card.

Most library items can be checked out for 21 days (3 weeks).

Mobile hotspots are checked out for 14 days (2 weeks).

Lucky Day DVDs are checked out for 3 days.

Book Club in a Bag kits are checked out for 6 weeks.

Up to 15 items may be checked out in OverDrive/Libby. Digital magazines do not count toward your checkout limit.

The Saint Paul Public Library is fines-free. There are no late fees.

Replacement fees are charged for items that are long overdue.

To check out e-books or e-audiobooks in the Libby app or on the OverDrive website, you need:

• a Saint Paul Public Library card, or
• a library card from the Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, or Washington County Library that has been registered with Saint Paul Public Library.
