    Library Go is an electronic library card that gives students access to library items, e-books, audiobooks, and online resources.

    The card number is automatically generated for all students in Saint Paul Public Schools and participating charter schools.

    Students automatically receive a Library Go number.

    This is a uniform prefix followed by a student ID number. Find prefix information for your school under "Access Information" on the Library Go page.

    This virtual card number allows students to check out physical materials, access e-books, audiobooks, and online resources.

    There is no risk of fees with Library Go cards. SPPL staff work with students who have lost or damaged materials to ‘Read Down’ or ‘Do Down’ their replacement responsibilities.

    Students can check out ten physical items.

    Students can also use Library Go to check out e-books and e-audiobooks through the Libby app, which has a 15 item limit.

    Students are able to check out physical materials and have access to e-books, audiobooks, and online resources.

    Library Go virtual cards do not replace physical library cards.

    Yes, parent/guardians can use their child’s Library Go account, as long as the child is present.

    Students receive automated notifications via email. SPPL staff can update accounts to include an alternate (or guardian) email or change to phone notification.

    At SPPS, the following information about students is public: name, birth date, grade, school. Additionally, the following information is designated as directory information only for MN State Libraries: address, home phone, Student ID, and student email address. Data shared between SPPS and SPPL is encrypted and transferred via secure protocol and is stored on secure servers.

    Educators can register their library card with the Saint Paul Public Library system or apply for a physical library card.

    Educators who live in Saint Paul can register for an e-card.

    SPPS staff can apply for an e-access card by completing a form at https://mis.spps.org/SPPLWebForm

    Library Go accounts are automatically renewed each school year.

    If a parent or guardian would like to opt-out of or opt back in to Library, they should contact their school or SPPS Student records at 651-632-3764 or studentrecords@spps.org.
