SPPL is Seeking Qualified Translators

Saint Paul Public Library is seeking qualified translators in one or more of the following languages: Hmong, K’Nyaw, Somali, and Spanish that can be called upon as needed for written translation projects. SPPL is looking for individuals or companies who will work with library staff to translate written information in a way that is accessible and simple for community members of various reading or literacy levels. 

In particular, SPPL is looking for qualified translators who: 

  • Live in Saint Paul and/or the Twin Cities Metroplitan area.  
  • Have familiarity with the communities that reside in Saint Paul and speak Hmong, K’Nyaw, Somali, and Spanish languages. 
  • Have familiarity with fields of libraries, education, social services, and/or healthcare. 
  • Can provide translations that are written for the fifth grade reading level. 
  • For K’Nyaw, SPPL seeks translators who uses the KNU font. 
  • For Hmong, SPPL seeks translators who are fluent in the White Hmong language.
