If you’re one of one the 51,000 patrons blocked from borrowing materials from the St. Paul Public Library system because of unpaid late fines, you’re in luck. With encouragement from the mayor’s office, the Library Board wrote off $2.5 million in uncollected debt from late returners. Late fines will now be a thing of the past, opens a new window. Books and other materials that are lost or stolen will still require repayment.
