Yes. As with all of our library cards, you must be a Saint Paul resident to get a Saint Paul Public Library card. No, getting a library card is always free! 

For Saint Paul residents, visit any Saint Paul Public Library location to get your library card and bring either: 

• Current picture ID (government or business) with name, date of birth, and current address 

OR 

• Current picture ID (government or business) plus any combination of documents that provide proof of name, date of birth, and current address.

We encourage anyone who already has a library card and wants the laser loon design to take advantage of the limited supply of Laser Loon library card-sized stickers to cover the art of your current card.

While you can replace your current library card with a limited-edition library card, you should know that you will be issued a new account number. This means that the account number associated with your current card will be deactivated. Deactivation will impact your SPPL account, as well as e-resources such as Libby. Staff can help transfer your borrowing history and account details to your new card and update your e-resource accounts.

Yes! The Library is offering a limited number of library card-sized stickers with the Laser Loon design, which can be applied to the existing card, allowing patrons to enjoy the exclusive design without changing their account number. 

If you are able, library cards and stickers must be picked up in-person at an SPPL location.

All library locations will have a limited supply of Laser Loon library cards and stickers. If your library location is out, we encourage you to check other library locations! Once they are gone at a library location, they are gone for good! 

Yes! Laser Loon merch is available at The Friends Shop. Mugs and children's tees have been added to the shop for this second round of cards!

Patrons signing up for the Laser Loon card or sticker will also receive a 15% off coupon to use on Laser Loon merch.
