From September 15 to October 15, 2026, Saint Paul Public Library is hosting ¡Puro Ritmo!, a Salsa Music Pop-Up Experience from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Latino.
¡Puro Ritmo! traces salsa’s evolution from its Afro-Caribbean roots to its rise as a defining sound in American music. This pop-up preview experience features a selection of musicians and objects, including iconic artists like Celia Cruz and Tito Puente, and includes more information on the building of the new National Museum of the American Latino.

During September 22-26, 2026, the National Museum of the American Latino will host a series of activations in the Twin Cities designed for families, community members, educators, and local leaders—inviting everyone to help shape a museum that honors our shared past and future.

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Latino is building a permanent home on the National Mall in Washington D.C. to honor the stories, contributions, and impact of Latinos in the United States.
