Saint Paul Public Library’s 2024 budget was passed earlier this month with investments in library services that demonstrate the continued support for the importance of library services that welcome all people to connect, learn, participate and grow. The budget includes:
- $678,000 one-time additional investment to improve safety infrastructure in libraries. These funds are coming from funding allocated to the City of Saint Paul from State Legislature for public Safety Aid and from the City’s Opioid Settlement.
- $150K one-time additional investment in support of library collections. This investment recognizes the importance of continued investment in library collections as cost of library materials has continued to increase.
- $500K one-time allocation from the Library’s fund balance for library capital investments as part of SPPL’s Transforming Libraries initiative to invest in three well-loved, well-used, and well-worn libraries in Saint Paul that have not been renovated in more than 30 years and to create technology-rich spaces and places for families to play and learn at all library locations.
We are grateful for the support from the City of Saint Paul and our community members and are excited to look forward to another year of serving the community to realize our vision of a city that works for all, where libraries bring people together to experience hope and unlock new possibilities.
