Changes Coming to Lynda.com

Update (September 19, 2019): the transition of Lynda.com to LinkedIn Learning has been paused. As more information is available, we will post it here. For now, library patrons will continue using Lynda.com as usual.

This fall, the library's subscription to Lynda.com will be changing to LinkedIn Learning.

A precise date will be posted here as soon as the date of the change is scheduled.

Why is this happening?

Lynda.com was acquired by LinkedIn in 2015 and is now merging the content from Lynda.com into its LinkedIn Learning service. Everything from Lynda.com will be moved into LinkedIn Learning. Additionally, you will now have access to LinkedIn Learning's content (13,000+ more courses), including content in languages other than English.

What will happen to my Lynda.com account?

All Lynda.com information will transfer to LinkedIn Learning. You will be able to continue where you left off in any courses. Your learning history and certificates of completion will transfer as well. Your account information is linked to your library card number. Once you create a profile for LinkedIn Learning you will be able to put in your library card number and that will add your Lynda.com information to your LinkedIn Learning account.

Account information will transfer, but you may want to download copies of any certificates of completion before the change to be absolutely sure you have them.

What happens on the day of the change?

On the day of the change, Lynda.com will not be available as the transfer takes place. The total downtime should be less than 3 hours but could take longer. When the transition is complete, our links to Lynda.com will be changed to take you to LinkedIn Learning. On your first visit to LinkedIn Learning, you will be asked to create a new profile.

Create a Profile

LinkedIn Learning will require users to create a LinkedIn profile. Please read LinkedIn's information about privacy settingsopens a new window. There will be a link to these settings on the library's new landing page for LinkedIn Learning.

Creating a profile

Sign in using an existing LinkedIn profile or create a new one by clicking "Join Now".

After you click "Join now", enter an email address and create a password for LinkedIn Learning.

Then, enter a first and last name (these are the only requirements for a LinkedIn profile created through the library's subscription).

A verification code will be e-mailed to you. Copy the code from the e-mail message and enter the code in the verification box.

After your account is verified, enter your library card number and the password or PIN you use to log in to your library account.

Choose some skills to focus on and/or continue on to LinkedIn Learning.

Profiles and Privacy Settings

After you have set up your account, you can choose you little or how much information to include in your profile. Visit your account's Privacy Settings to select the settings that are best for you.

The options you choose and the information you provide will affect how your profile displays:
