In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library (as the Minnesota Center for the Book) in partnership with State Library Services have launched a new statewide virtual book club called One Book, One Minnesota. Its goal is to foster connections through the power of well-told stories across the state through libraries and schools.
The inaugural title is Because of Winn-Dixie by Minnesota author Kate DiCamillo. A story of friendship, this Newbery Honor book is the story of 10-year-old India Opal Buloni, who goes to the Winn-Dixie for groceries but returns home instead with a most extraordinary dog. We welcome interested readers to check out a copy of the e-book from Ebooks Minnesota. If you're interested in running your own book club, we have a variety of supporting materials available for use.
Kate DiCamillo will be holding a virtual author talk and Q&A session. Registration is free and open to the public and we welcome readers of all ages to join us. To register for Kate DiCamillo's online author talk on Wednesday, May 20, from 1-2:00 p.m.
This is first in a planned series, so keep your eyes open for the next author and title!
