This spring, as Saint Paul's bats emerge from their cozy caves we are crossing our fingers that they set up their summer home at Riverview Library's new Bat House. Bats are an important part of the ecosystem; they are pollinators and their tiny stomachs can hold a lot of insects, which helps control the mosquito population. Bat poop, called guano, is nitrogen rich, and will provide wonderful fertilizer for Riverview's pollinator garden.
