About Pop Up Saint Paul

Pop Up Saint Paul grew out of  "Pop Up Meeting" which was an original project by City Artist, Amanda Lovelee. Lovelee artistically retrofitted a city truck that unfolds as Saint Paul’s "front porch" to engage communities and customize civic meetings based on local and stakeholder needs. Pop Up Meeting has been handing out locally-made popsicles since 2015 in exchange for residents' ideas and dreams while increasing diversity and participation in Saint Paul’s urban planning process.

In the summer of 2018 we brought the power to the people by making the original Pop Up Meeting available to community groups and organizations through an easy application process. We are also joining forces with the Saint Paul Public Library to create a whole new way to gather and access to tools to make change possible!

2018 Pop Up History

Pop Up Meeting Saint Paul

In June 2018 we awarded 10 organizations an opportunity to have the popsicle truck attend their community events. It came filled with 100 locally made popsicles, custom surveys, and was accompanied by our well-trained engagement coordinator.

Pop Up Saint Paul Meet + Greet kits!

In July and August 2018 we awarded 20+ vouchers for free coffee and sweet treats to community organizers to help support their community events.

Our Meet + Greet Kits contained vouchers for refreshments from locally owned businesses on Saint Paul’s East Side, West Side, and Summit-University neighborhoods.

This project is by Public Art Saint Paul’s City Artist Amanda Lovelee in collaboration with Saint Paul Public Library and funded by the Knight Foundation.
