About George Latimer


The Saint Paul Public Library's central library is named for George Latimer.

George Latimer served as Saint Paul Mayor from 1976 to 1990. As mayor, he launched the Family Housing Fund, created District Energy, and championed early childhood education.

Latimer served on the Friends of the Library Board from 1998 to 2012, serving as Chair from 2008 to 2012. In 2012, he was elected Board Chair Emeritus.
